Carol and David have both been writing music since they started playing guitars in their teen years. They joined forces in 1997 and perform mainly original songs of life’s delights and dilemmas as well as fulfilling the troubadour’s role of critical commentary on society today! Audiences identify with their witty, intelligent lyrics extolling the struggles of daily life with a sense of humour. The duo has 2 independent CDs, “Some Things You Do for Love” and ‘Simple Pleasures" both produced and recorded by Paul Mills with a stellar cast of musicians. Carol's passion for songwriting has won her two Honor Awards in the Great American Songwriting Competition in 2005 and 2006. Her writing reflects a broad range of topics, but she may be best known for her hilarious views of the trials and tribulations of relationships, environmental angst and “pet” peeves (cats mainly). Sure to keep you smilin’ Carol plays guitar, mandolin (and her feather boa) in performance. Carol & David have conducted many visual arts and songwriting workshops with students in remote aboriginal communities in Northern Ontario and Labrador with the ArtsCan Circle program as well as song-writing workshops for the audience at the Mariposa Folk Festival for the last four years. In all her workshops participants are engaged in hands-on writing and art experiences with a focus on letting the creative spirit soar, facilitating self-expression and empowering the artist in us all. Discuss your festival’s needs with Carol and she can design a workshop to fill the bill. Carol and David are happy to offer songwriting sessions for festivals and have a wide array of children’s music and art activities to add to any festival. A little laughter, a little blues -- served up with love and compassion for the human state. Carol and David’s performance has something for everyone in their audience! “When it's raining outside, put them in the CD player and you'll see the sun.”
